THASL invited to educate over 200 deputy principals from around the island on the benefits of a career in hospitality management
The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) was recently invited to conduct a session on Hospitality Management to over 200 deputy principals at the Ministry of Education. The main objective of this initiative was to communicate the opportunities, career prospects and other benefits in the Hospitality sector to students through the invited deputy school principals and inspire them to join the fastest growing industry in the country. The session was enriched with insightful speeches delivered by the President of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka and other senior hoteliers.
The panels of speakers included, Amal Nanayakkara who holds 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and is specialised in human resource development; Anura Lokuhetty – Chairman of the Asian Council on Tourism and Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) as well as the Past President of THASL; Nirmo Thambapillai – General Manager/Secretary of the Hill Club in Nuwara Eliya and is armed with 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry; Sanath Ukwatte – President of THASL, Chairman and Managing Director of the Mount Lavinia Hotel Ltd., as well as Founder and Chairman of the International Hotel School in Mount Lavinia.
